I can buy a CPL 0599 Industrial motor for really cheap , there isn't anything wrong with it and it comes with everything from the automotive motor it was replaced with. It even comes with the original aftercooler... Its supposed to make 190 hp at 2100 rpm, is the cam and internals the same as the newer 5. 9's ? It doesn't need anything mabye a set of rings and its good to go... . Thanks alot.

It has different pistons and rings and ring placement (industrial vs automotive), some gurus' think this is a performance advantage. I think the major differences are emmission reasons. . just my . 02.

The head is the old style and may have cracks in the valve seats, so pull it and have a good shop dip and magnaflux it. Also grind the valves and new stem seals at the least.

You may have to block off the fuel filter in the head if it doesn't use an inline p-pump. . may have to swap your gear housing and cover, which will mean pulling the cam.

You will likely need to reuse your oil pan and pick up tube.

Other than that everything should/will swap, did it recently for a customer (built up industrial short block, minus a cam 1991 vintage ( CPL 02304?)

Some times you can find a core out of a second gen truck that runs even for a $1000 or less. You will have your time and $1500 at a minimum to freshen it up properly. If the block is cracked, head cracked or warped then it goes up from there. .

Good luck. Andy

Has anyone here had experience with these motors ? Are they easily upgradeable to the 215 motor if I change the rotary pump to the inline 7100 ? I was kind of looking at just buying and selling it, I'm trying to help out a buddy who needs some cash. . Thanks alot.

ring grooves are placed higher up towards the crown of the pistin in automotive applications. emission reasons. The front cover(the one that the dowl pin takes out) will need to be changed, the rotary pump has a different mounting pattern than the p7100. May have to look at how the fuel filters are mounted also as to what the industrial motor came out of. The lift pump on all the rotary pump engines is the diaphram type, you will need the piston style to feed the p7100, there are two types of these also, high and low flow, we put high flow on all of ours at work when they go bad, course this is what the c-series uses and it cuts down on parts overhead.
