The Dealer wants me to pay for the bracket kit and the labor to

replace the cracked one. Has any one payed for this TSB replacement?I thought this was a Dodge Corp. problem. Is this

B. S. or not ? GWD

That is BS for sure!

They paid for mine after I showed them the crack, but they made a big stink that I found out about this TSB before they did. Claimed that I had this information illegally since it was copyrighted.

I was not charged for mine, nor have I heard of anyone in this forum being charged. It is a faulty part and there is a tsb out on it. If you dealer continues this line, tell him you would like to get confirmation from D/C.

It is a warranty item and covered by Dodge. I did pay for mine, though, because I insisted on putting in on myself (time constraints, didn't have time to leave it at the dealer like they insisted I do).

I better tell our fellow TDR members that I am out in California,

and the dealer trouble is out here NOT in Colorado! My wife has

had surgery and is recovering before we can travel back home(2more

months at least) I don't want to you to think the problem is with

Dodge dealer's in CO. thank's for the replys. :) GWD

Just a quick question. My truck is expected in this week. Will it have the "defective" alternator bracket or should it have the "replacement" one from the factory already installed??

Trucks produced after mid February should have the improved cast iron bracket.

JoeDiesel,

I stopped by my dealer about my bracket loaded with a print out of the TSB. They had not heard about it, and didn't seem to care. If it was broke and under warranty, it didn't seem to matter if there even was a TSB. They even used the print out from Genos to verify the p/n's.

At any rate, we went over to a new truck and popped the hood ... ... it had the cast and not cold formed bracket.

If your truck comes in and has the steel stamping, tell them to go ahead and order the cast bracket instead!

Mine has the crack and when I asked the Dealer to check it and complete the repair, the response was that there is no crack and the TSB does not apply to my truck. It should be very interesting when it eventually lets go. The good part is it is on record.

And they wonder why they are referred to as the "S*&^er"?

Tried to get the dealer to replace mine as well, but it isn't cracked (yet). I broke out a mirror and flashlight trying to find even the smallest hairline crack- nada.

I guess I should be happy, but I can't help thinking it's going to crack at the worst possible moment, at the worst possible place, and about 3 months out of the B2B warranty.

I wish they'd just issue the recall and get it over with. It would go a long way for customer relations. We can't be talking about that many brackets...

Ken,

If you see a crack how can your dealer deny it? Yours was built around the same time as mine and has the problem bracket. My dealer took my word for it. Maybe a tantrum on the showroom floor would help. :{ :{

Casey,

This is the same Dealer that wanted $500. 00 more for the E-Brake than either Cummins or the other Dealer in town.

The sales staff are great in pricing and knowledge. But parts and the service departments are not service orientated. Need I say more?

The good part is the truck is great. :D

Cheers Ken

These dealers are all different aren't they? I just called mine up and they ordered the parts on my word alone. They didn't even want to see it first.
