I've been to two dealers and without even looking at the truck they told me it wasn't cracked and that "not a single bracket has been ordered in the entire state of Washington. " The second dealer finally looked at it proclaimed it wasn't cracked.
I asked them how they knew it wasn't cracked? Their response was they haven't seen one yet and the hairline that looks like a crack is really just the finish on the part not the parent material. I asked if they've ever done a Magnetic Particle or Fluorescent Penetrant inspection to prove it. All I got was a dumb stare.
i was also told that mine was not cracked. i went back to the service bay and showed them the crack. they then agreed that it was cracked and authorized the fix and ordered the parts. i was notified that the parts were in so i dropped off my truck this morning (and was given a mini-van loaner ). i called to check the status and was told truck is done, bracket is on order and is 2-3 months out!!!
i will easily put on another 15k miles over the next 2-3 months. should i expect problems??? any way to "rush" this?

I feel your pain!! Mine was cracked so I took it in with a copy of the TSB. Then the service folks looked at it and said it wasn't cracked and for me to show them. So I said, "give me a bright light and a large flat blade screwdriver to apply some leverage and I'll show you. " "OOOh there it is... yup we'll order you a new bracket. Just why couldn't they put brackets on the 03's like they did on the older CTDs?"
Go in a week later and then the same service people said after they replaced mine that they didn't find any cracks on it and said what I saw was part of the finish too!
PCline, I've been using Bellevue Dodge, ask for Melanie in service. I had terrible luck with Monroe and Lynnwood Dodge, both have lied to me and I have the proof should they ever whine about anything I write here.

By the way Curt, it took about 10 days to get in the new bracket last month.
Thanks for the info Prairie Dog, I'll try them next time.
I'm getting pretty good at filling out Dealer customer satisfaction surveys! I try to include lots of info to back up my survey so they don't just think I'm "complaining".
Hey JStieger. . I think all these dealers go to the same school to get their excuses. Did you ask them how you could pry on the bracket and get the finish to look cracked without the bracket itself being cracked? I don't think these dealers understand that cracks can be very tight and may not even look like cracks until there is a load on the part.
MR: Beer Man I hope this picture will cut and paste GWH
Casey Balvert The cracks are wider on my bracket and easier

Note the hairline cracks in the radius of the bend. I really think that all brackets of this type will eventually fail due to vibration. Easy job to replace it though.
