Anybody heard of bad blocks in 99's. Mine's cracked passenger side near trannie cooler. Have been told it's a manufacturing defect but I don't know. Just bought the truck before christmas. I have warrenty with it.

Sounds like you have the infamous "53" block. I had the short block in my '99 replaced under warranty a few years ago. Good luck.

Heres a question for someone, I dont have a 53, so i haven't been keeping up on it that well, but what does cummins/dodge do if you are over 100,000 with a 53 block that cracks... Do they fix it, or do you pay for a new block?? My buddy has an uncracked 53, knock on wood, with 150,000 miles or so... Thanks

do a search here on 53 block here are many threads describing what others have experienced and what they have gotten from cummins depending on mileage
