My Friend and his 2001 are no longer mobile. He found a crack in his block this afternoon. Dont know many details, we are going to talk to the dealer tomorrow morning bright and early (hate to let people see the poor thing up on the gooseneck). The truck has 105K on it so, its just out of warranty. With his business he has to have his truck to pull his trailer. We are needing to know where a guy could get ahold of a reman cummins very resasonable. Or if anyone else has had this happen with approximately the same mielage, and if dodge covered the warranty of exchange of the motor. Thanks for all help, we have to get it running by this weekend.

Don't count out the warranty just yet. He's close enough that they might cut him a break. Seems like I've read about others who have gotten some extra consideration before. Good luck.

was it a 53 block. look under the injection pump for some casting numbers there will probably be a big 53 cast in the block. let us know. kurt.

the last TDR issue said that the "53" blocks have nothing to do with the block cracking, just some coincidence... (though there was a thickness problem at one time in the cracking area).

I thought you were from the state of Maine? Sounds like you moved to the state of Denial :-laf The #53's are the ones that crack, heavy towing and bus applications help this along. I too have read here where some who have had this problem and have been just barely out of warranty were taken care of. I don't think this is something that Dodge and Cummins want the public to hear about (cracking blocks). The Cummins is known for its power and durablity, this does not look good for the durablity part. I think this would be taken care of if a person yells enough.

yeah, i live in egypt:rolleyes: well, i've always known them to be the "53" blocks that crack which makes sense. however, in issue 40 they say that the "53" block has no better chance of cracking than any other one:confused:

Tom... yes... from Maine

NO HELP

Just an update. NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER. We will have to locate a motor for the truck. Not the news that we wanted to hear. For the mean time we put Moroso ceramic stop leak in it. Just to hold it till we find a new one. If anyone knows a good outlet to get a block, complete reman, long block, short block, whatever, feel free to PM or email. Thanks
