All,

Found this when I pulled the comp. inlet hose off today.

It looks like one of the blades is cracked, but it is really hard to tell. Could be an impact from a 'foreign object' (i. e. scratch) as well.

The 'crack' (if it is one) appears to stop near the outer edge of the blade, see picture.

Have you ever seen this or heard of this happen on a CTD engine?

I was pulling the silencer ring and installing a BHAF today. Should I put the stock airbox back, because it might put too high a strain on the compressor?

Should I get a different turbo right away?

Can I just change the compressor wheel?

My truck is a stock 97 CTD w/ manual with 115k miles, never had any problems.

Obviously, paranoia is my copilot now. I have to go on a ~700 mile trip in a week. I would very much appreciate your advice.

Thanks

get in there with some carb or brake cleaner and a toothbrush and clean it up well. . take a razor and feel for a crack. . if its cracked, then up grade to a hx 40 comp wheel and housing. .

thanks
