cracked exhaust manifold-good value on new??

Hey everyone,

i just found some cracks in my exhaust manifold and am wondering about a good replacement.

mopar wants about over $400 for their model. i think i saw that banks has a stainless one. Does this sound right? wouldn't stainless not have quite the heat absorbing capacity of other metals for this application?



anyway what are some of the better places to find an exhaust manifold at a good price?



also, what are factors or driving habits that might have contributed to this happening? it has happend in the last 4000 miles. we are careful to let the truck cool down before shutdown and we towed a 7000 lb airstream trailer for a couple thousand miles but never pushed the truck heavily. we have no mods on the truck.

3 Piece ATS manifold.

Ex manifold cracking is common, some times they will break the manifold bolt bosses off the head.

it's true! i am missing a bolt head!



what is "Jet Hot Coating" and what are the pros/cons of it and matching the gaskets and ports?

what is entailed in doing this? expensive? worth it?

Look into the 3 piece manifold made by ATS. I think they have a web page. There is a place on it also to drill and tap for a EGT probe.
