While looking over my buddies truck yesterday I found that his exhaust manifold was cracked right where they collect to go into the turbo. He was also telling me that when he gets to a little over 2000 rpm's his truck cuts in and out. Could this be because of the crack? Another thing is that I just gave him my air box that is cut out with a K&N in it. He said that when it cuts out now it is more noticable after we installed the air box. Any suggestions? Help! The truck is a 99 24 valve 5 speed extended cab dually.

Have someone read codes, it could be a few different things.

I don't think the cracked manifold will cause it.

Try cleaning the IAT sensor, or just replace it, also try replacing the MAP sensor.

Does he have gauges?? FP could be a cause...

The cracked exaust manifold will only cause a drop in boost pressure. I drove for over 30000 miles with mine cracked before i switched to an ATS manifold.

The cracking manifold is very common,I have lost count on how many I have replaced. The ATS manifold is the solution. Be advised that they are now being shipped with out all the allen bolts-just the absolute necessary ones for the center section. New owners... ... ... ... . :( If the truck has no codes, start by checking fuel quality and pressure.
