cracked flex plate

What causes this? It looks like it is not of very good quality. Now the good news, while the transmission is out, it's going to have some upgrades done to it.

What causes this??
very poor engineering !!

The 6. 9 ford i had before the dodge had a 1" thick steel flywheel just like a manual transmistion would have, when i broke the center out of my dodge flexplate i could not believe how thin and cheap the thing was and if thats not bad enought they go and cut out the triangles all the way around so they've got 30-40 corners for crack to form, and to matters even worse there's no way to inspect for cracks without sliding the trans back, this is realy sore subject for me, i had to replace one at 80,000 miles, i found the corners all cracked while i had the trans out working on it, and the second on at 130,000 miles, no warning on this one, just BAM! and then it felt like the whole truck was comming apart, scares me every time i plan a trip, does any body know if the new dodges use anything different??

Probably caused from a high torque starter, opposed from from a high compression engine during engine start. Does Dodge use the same flex plate on the gas engines?

I picked up my new flex plate today from Dodge, and it looks as cheap as the one I took out. Does anybody make a better constructed one? I don't feel I got my $200. 00 worth. Could of used that money for more BOMBing.
