Howdy all. I have a slight problem. The metal fuel line between the fuel filter and the injection pump developed a crack. So it needs replaced. I can't get one anytime soon so was thinking about using rubber fuel line I have left over from a GDP kit and using diffent fittings to replace the banjos. Is this possible, and if it is what size fittings/thread are the fuel filter and p-pump?

Thanks

Thomas

find a fuel hose with the ID the same as the metal line , cut the line at the break , put a long enough piece of hose over either end of the line to put hose clamps on & tighten , your fixed.
This a low pressure 10-30lbs , the hose will work .

I had thought about that, but the metal line is cracked right at the banjo on the pump. There is no room to slide a rubber hose over that end.

After reading this thread -

Fuel Line Info

Look at Vaughn's post about 5 down from the top of this thread - I ordered one of the updated fuel lines and installed it - the one I removed looked OK but you never know.

The new one is made with a braided steel line. .

You're lucky it didn't happen in BFE Nebraska hauling a car on a flatbed 1400 miles from home in February when it blew like mine did :-laf

Get the upgraded line, Cummins PN 3936691, I highly recommend it!

Heh. . the closest one in the direction I was going that had the fuel hose was in Boise ID! I had to get towed to Sidney, and a shop welded it to get me back on the road. I picked up the fuel line in Boise and put it on as soon as I got home.

Luckily I missed most the bad weather, but 20 degrees in the wind with diesel all over you hands makes 'em go numb real quick!

Nothing much to slow the wind down in that area. Folks have frozen to death thinking they could leave their car in a blizzard and find help.

The fuel line you purchased is of interest. I haven't had trouble with that one yet but probably will eventually. I wonder if something similar could be found for the line from the pump to the filter input.
