I've done some searches and have found

a wide variety of bad things that happen when a CTD has a cracked head.

My 98. 5 24v spews about 3 quarts of oil over 30 miles when towing over the passes here. It blows it right out the blowby hose. Only when I tow...

I discussed this a bit on another thread, but wanted to open it up for feedback - hope that is OK...

So, anyone think my oil blowby might be a cracked head?

if it was only doing it under heavy load, i would say it was a good possibilty. usually on a blown head gasket, it will push water out though. i could be wrong though.

If you are blowing it out the blow by vent

Its probably rings or scored cylinder walls,if its blowing it out of the front of the head, where the head meets the block, then it is probably a blown head-gasket. Merv
