Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) transfer case leak

After returning from a 3700 miles road trip, I started having starting difficulties. (If only this had happened while in Vegas, and I'd have had a good excuse to visit Joe Donnelly!) The lift pump was not the problem, finally could see a very fine mist under the hood - cracked injector line. 113,000 miles on the truck, looks like #'s 4 and 5 may be the culprits. Should I change all the lines? Are cracked lines an issue for anyone else?

PS: local dealer told my dad that the truck should be fixed by week's end. I called, and he, "... don't know when the parts will be in. We can't find them!" Cummins will have them here today.

Ray, you are the first I have heard of with cracked lines. That is pretty darn unusual. I would replace just the 2 leaking personally, unless I could make the dealer give me the others under warranty. Where did they crack specifically on the lines?

Darn good thing no one ran their hands over the lines too, seems that some guys around here don't give injection lines the respect they deserve... ... .

Sounds like someone working on the engine may have bent the lines out of the way rather than do it the correct way and remove them totally.

Most don't realize that the lines are hardened steel, like trying to bend a knife blade they may break before they bend. Another problem that can occur from bending the lines is kinking the fuel passageway closed since the passage is very small.

Injector lines are very expensive, only replace the broken ones.

I don't think anyone but myself has been under there. And given where they are leaking, I haven't a clue how they could have cracked. I'll know more when I get them out and give them a close look. Ray
