I know that there are lots of threads about the sorry dashes in these trucks, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so here goes my issues.
My 03 truck has had 1 crack on passenger side for about 2 years I could live with it cause I couldn't really see it. Now this summer the drivers side has cracked in three or four places there again doesn't look the best but I could live with it. Now however it is rattling more than I can stand. My understanding is that I have the following options please tell me if I am missing something.
1) Put a dash rug on it. I think it will still rattle which is my chef compliant.
2) Put a glue on painted cap. I think the paint will scratch off and I think it will still rattle.
3) Put aftermarket replacement dash painted to match. I think paint won't hold up.
4) Put a stock replacement dash in. This was the option I was going with till I learned that they have superseded the one piece dash with now about six pieces to replace because you have to get six pieces the cost for the parts is over $1000.
What am I missing there has to be something else out there. I think the salvage yard dashes unless they come from Alaska are all going to be dried out and cracked due to the heat.
