I have a problem and need help!!!! About 2 weeks ago my truck shut off while driving, it restarted with no problems. I parked for about 25 minutes truck started then shut off, i had to keep my foot on the accelerator pedal to keep it running to get home. Once i got home i fooled around with it, the truck sounded like it was backfiring. Everytime it stumbled it would smoke bad, so i added deisel kleen and the stumble went away, a couple of days passed then it was back again. i removed the injectors and cleaned them that had no affect on my problem. i changed the fuel with some new and added deisel kleen it ran with no problems. My truck has been sluggish since i removed the injectors and my fuel mileage has dropped alot but no hesitation. about 4 days ago it started the stumble but it is intermitting. i have never had any issues with starting, until now it has always started on first crank. if it is parked for more than 20 minutes or if i park facing uphill it fights to start especially when its cold outside. it hasnt thrown any codes. do yall have any ideas anything will help. Thank You

Have you checked the lift pump fuel pressure at the VP44 injection pump fuel inlet? You should have a minimum of 5 psi under load at full throttle.

Have you checked for water in the fuel filter housing and replaced the fuel filter?

If you've checked the above, then it's sure sounding like a problem with the VP44.

How many miles do you have on the truck and on the VP44?

Good luck,

John L.

10 psi minimum actually (from the mouth of Bosch).

Look around at all your fittings for any fuel leaks, including the injector lines at the head (esp #6) and along the frame rail under the fuel tank.

183,000 miles no leaks and i have 12 psi at the injection pump from a fass 150 unit when i changed the fuel i changed the fuel filter and the water seperator. to my understanding this is the original vp pump if it is the vp do you suggest blue chips pumps i have and edge juice with attitude on the truck
