Is their anything I can do? Do I have to re-pave? Most cracks are narrow (less than 1 inch) but I have one that is 3 inches wide... ...

Help.....

Check someplace like Home Depot. They have asphalt patch in caulk tubes for narrow cracks, cans for doing with putty knife and cold patch in bags for the really bad crackks and when its all patched there is liquid asphalt that goes on like thick paint with a broom or roller that seals it and makes it all 1 color

If you have a concrete driveway with 1 - 3" cracks it would indicate to me that it was poured without any steel reinforcement or the steel is laying on the ground, not up in the concrete. You could fill the cracks with concrete patch but the cracks will continue to grow. You may be better off to start over.

For asphalt Deezel's advice is right on.

I buy the slurry in bulk, the true crude based asphalt sealer. I also buy a 50# bag of beach sand. I take a large laundry detergent bottle(large pour spout) and mix sand and slurry together to a semi runny goo. It pours into the cracks easily and flows down. When it is semi set, I brush it with a coarse bristle broom then completely seal the driveway. Buying it in bulk is alot cheaper and usually much better material. Chris

No, I buy it from a paving contractor or ck out some driveway sealing contractors. If you have to buy the regular stuff in the five gallon cans, don't buy a brand named Black Jack. It is garbage! I bought it and did my driveway and the stuff peeled in 6 months. Henrys is about the only good consumer available product(out west). Ck your yellow pages,you should be able to find the bulk product back east.

Driveway story

Have you ever seen a blacktop driveway after 14 triaxle dumptrucks and 4 cement mixers drove over it?

I have and let me tell you it isn't pretty. :mad: the ruts were so deep if I didn't stradle them I would scrape my diffs when I went down the hill. :--)

$4,200 later and no more ruts. :eek: :mad: :{

What did a learn form this? Next time when money is better I'm going with concrete on the drive. :rolleyes:

Good job on the title of this thread RottnDogue, I was expecting a little different thread line when I opened it.

Like. . What do you do if you find your overweight mother-in-law, passed out drunk, sitting on your driveway?
