Dry Cut Saw blades

Best Saw-Zall blade ever

I need a torque wrench for adjusting my transmission bands. I know that proto and Snap-on make quality stuff but funds are tight and I need something more economical. Anybody have opinions on the Craftsman torque wrenches?

Thanks,

Bill

Their torque wrenches do not have a lifetime warranty - I believe it's 90 days. That said I have 3 craftsmen torque wrenches and are very happy with them - about the only craftsmen tools I can say that about, most of their stuff is pure junk any more.

I have a couple Craftsman torque wrenches. Seem to be fine. Anybody know where to get them calibrated?

Most of my other tools are Craftsman - older - and for what I need, seem to do the job. Only new CM I've bought recently was a set of their "Extreme Duty" open end wrenches - longer handle and jaws that grip the flats. 29 bucks or so. I am here to tell you those suckers work mighty good. Busted the heads right off a couple rusty 9/16 bolts - didn't round 'em one bit, just busted right 'em off. No BHF needed. Drill and tap time. :)

I have a CM ft lb TQ wrench - I was very disapoined that I had if for about 6 months before I used it and the first time out the locking ring cracked. So now it's a PIA to use other than that it works OK as long as you hold the handle in place. I wish (if they even make them anymore) I could afford a Snap-on like the in lb TQ wrench I have. It's old and all metal - very high quality piece.

I have an old Craftsman Torque Wrench I bought in about 1980 or so. It is the "clicker" type and seems to work well after 25 years. I pulled it apart a year or so ago and oiled it which I suspect made it more accurate.

I buy S-K hand tools. They make several grades of wrenches, the best grade is very well made and tough and good-looking to boot.

Craftsman are as good as most brand and they have a lifetime warranty on hand tools with no questions asked.

i had to deal with that... my crapsman torque wrench ratchet head shattered at 90lbs/ft and the wrench and the box and the packaging and the recept said lifetime warrenty on them, so i went there, and they said no, so i went to homedepot and at the time [i don't know if they still do] they would honor mastercraft pro series, crapsman, snapon and mac warrenty and give you a replacment husky tool. i went there, they gave me a husky 0-250lbs/ft replacment torque wrench and it has worked great for the past 5 or so years [the crapsman was a 0-150, but HD didn't have one that size so they upsized for free for me]

that was some great customer service from home depot

The Craftsman torque wrench I purchased a few years back does have a lifetime warranty and so far has been very good.

I have the original Craftsman micro-torque all metal torque wrench. The gears stripped as they usually have. I have owned this thing since the mid 70's. I would take it to sears and they would give me a rebuild kit. This time they wanted to charge me $50. 00 to repair. I told them it is a lifetime guarantee. I was told that "we are owned by Kmart now and things have changed". The moral of this story is that I do not buy anything at sears any more. Lifetime warranty does not seem to mean anything when they have to repair anything. I also bought one of the new craftsman torque wrenches which now does have a 90 day warranty, It broke within a month and sears replaced it. I guess I will start looking at Home Depot.

According to the Sears in Sioux Falls, SD:

Craftsman beam-type torque wrenches have a lifetime warranty.

Craftsman click-type torque wrenches have a 1 year warranty.

90 day

Forever if we are still in business and being pretty exact is not in your vocabulary.

I guess you would have to look close at the warranty and the price you are willing to pay as both are all over the place any more. Although they will still not repair my original life time wrench.

Thanks, Dave.

I was just now doing some reading & it looks like some torque wrenches are online catalog exclusives, some are catalog exclusives, and some are in-store exclusives, and they all have different warranties. Sheesh, only Sears would come up with something that confusing. :-laf

:--) Unbelievable! If that's going to be their attitude then I'm going to stop buying from them in the future. I'll go with SK.

I have 2 Craftsman "microtorq" wrenches: 1/2" 20-150 ft-lb and 3/8" 25-250 in-lb. The 1/2" is about 6 years old and works fine.

The 3/8" is about 5 years old and is broken. The locking ring doesn't work anymore. This past summer I took it in for the "lifetime warranty". As others have reported, I was told "nope, 90 days on torque wrenches". I suppose I understand, since torque wrenches do lose their calibration after a time and you don't want to be giving people free torque wrenches every time they need recalibration. And I think I read over the warranty (still have the original packaging) and it does say 90 days.

Soon I'll be in the market for a 20-250 ft-lb. I guess I'll go with an all-metal SK.

This company was one of the better torque wrench manufactures when I used to deal with such things when I was in the USAF. One thing the USAF did was to make torque wrenches with plastic parts illegal. There was to much money wasted because any cracks in a plastic handle by regs results in the wrench being condemned. It appears this company was bought by Snapon.

KMart is going to ruin Sears.

Next thing, we'll be seeing Sears ads on TV with a scantily-clad Martha Stewart  holding a tool  of some sort - much like the old Snap-On and Ridgid calendars.

Buy any quality torque wrench take good care of it and it will last you a lifetime Bar, Click, digital makes no differance. It the care you give it after you buy it. Drop it, get it caliberated.
