crank position sensor "gap"?

I was doing the harmonic damper thing the other day, and it occurred to me that there is no mention in the shop manual of a spec for the air gap on the crank position tone ring and the pickup. I didn't go back and look closely, but is the pickup built so that it lands at the right gap with no provision for adjustment?
