Hey guys, just what does the crank sensor do on my 92 CTD? Yea, I know it tells the engines computer the RPM, etc, but what does the computer do in response to the engine? Does it adjust pump timing or fuel delivery? Since this doesnt have the electronic pump, I am quite curious.
If this fails what could be the symptoms? Hard starting cold? Rough idle? Inconsistant fuel deilvery? Has anyone been there-done that with this year truck?
Ah, I wondered about this. Seems mine in a previous owners life had a major belt failure and took the wires to the crank sensor. That would also explain the "mystery" wire going to the alternator. It does charge. Cruise works. It just doesnt like to start very well cold or idle smooth. Starts better and idles a little better when warm. Trying to find solution to this.
Think I met this guy on TDR, anyway here is his name and number:
Thierry, 760-419-9251. I have his home email on my home computer, (at school right now). The number is in southern California, Vista. Good luck let us know how much he's asking, (or is that not allowed here). He wanted more than I was willing to pay when I contacted him
