crankshaft cracking info

I have heard that the 04. 5 cranks have a tendancy to crack. Is this true?

I've never heard of ANY 5. 9 crank "cracking". Even when one members eng lost oil pressure and threw a rod I think the crank still stayed in one pc.
Don't believe the junk you read on The Diesel Stop.

There been the rare occurence of a crank breaking but usually it is has been subject to extreme conditions. Like a rod wrapped around it or over revving and excessive fueling.



The chances of a crank cracking or breaking with normal use is so low its hard to measure.
