I have the DrawTite 6003 front receiver on my model year 2000 Ram 2500 4X4 with manual transmission. It was an easy install as the receiver is specific to this truck. It required removing and replacing the four bolts that hold the front stabilizer bar and the installation of two more bolts through existing holes. I also had to cut a hole in the air dam. The forward end of the receiver is just below and to the rear of the bottom of the front license plate mount. An easy, good looking install—$134. 95 + tax in Ventura County, California.

Here's the downside. I had to remove my Mopar tow hooks. I don't think you NEED to use both hooks and receiver. I don't know if any other receiver will allow you to retain the Mopar hooks.

Maybe you need to eliminate one of the two items from your list.

Mike-
I bought the front Mopar tow hooks from Mopar4less.com. I have the price and P/N at home so I will update later. The hooks are very rugged and the mounting brackets are even more so. I believe that it is 6-bolts per hook (you could dangle the truck in the trees with these things). One thing that you might want to check out first (as I was unable to get an answer) is whether or not a front receiver will mount in conjunction with the hooks. See ya at the next Ramrunner's,

David

Here's the P/N's if you're still interested in the hooks:

Thomas,

Thanks for the info - I've been wondering if you could have both a front receiver hitch and tow hooks..... you've answered my question!

Cheapest price I've found so far is $119 at Four Wheel Parts Wholesale in Burbank - (ordered). Of course I found a place that had one in stock and they wouldn't budge from their $169 price!! Oh well - they won't get a lot of my business!

You didn't mention if you plan to install the Rancho 9000s or not. I had mine installed cause I heard the fronts are a PITA. The shocks you are talking about are: 4RS9000 5speed Adjustable Shocks with in Cab Remote System. Be sure you get the ones for the 2001 as they are different from the 2000 (at least they were on my truck). 4WheelParts had a good price on the entire system.

I have had a lot of air leak problems. Partly due to the poor installation (not 4WheelParts) and the fact that the air lines go directly to the in cab controls. They are under the dash and easy to disturb. I would seriously consider the shocks without the in cab controls. Once you figure out how you want them set, you probably won't change them. My $0. 02.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the replies back so far guys, this is the info I am after, I will probably go with front reciever over the hooks (more feasable) Also yes I plan to do the install myself or as usual with the help of BPine my expert local mechanic. I have heard that rumor about the in cab controls, I may not install them after you mentioning this.
