Hello,

I have a 99 quad cab and I need more seating room in the back seat. There is just not enough room for my kids legs when setting in a car seat. I have 3 options. 1. Get rid of my kids. 2. Trade my truck for a (dare I say it?) Ford crew cab. 3. Convert my truck to a crew cab at a custom body shop. I can't get rid of my kids, with 1 more on the way I might add. I have never owned a Ford, and since I just quit smoking and chewing a year ago, would hate to start any new bad habits this early on. So, that leaves me with choice #3. If anyone knows of such a shop that would be good for performing this work please let me know. I have seen an ad in the TDR, but I can't seem to remember which issue.

Thanks,

Jon G

Has anyone had a Bayer Auto cab conversion done to their trucks?

How does it look up close? Any bad flex issues? Squeeks/rattles that won't go away? Do they stiffen the frame enough to be that long without sacrificing load carrying ability?

What are the known inherent problems/dangers of doing this to a truck?

I think it would be great if I turned my regular cab in to a crew cab.

Great to see some TDR folks with these cab conversions!

Any one want to answer my previously-posted questions?

How much does this usually cost?

Here are some more pics, all of Loretta's truck from Enterprise Engine.

You would be a fool to invest that much in an older truck. I f you have to have a true crew cab, get the damm ford. And if that 6. 0 L bouthers you, get someone to put in a cummins, much cheaper. But I have a feeling if you got the ford, you would be happy enough to leave things as they are. Got to admitt the ford is much nice then the dodge. They have a far supperior transmission, interior, and selected options like dual alternators. When they get there 6. 0L problems sorted out, dodge better get off there duff, and come up with better, more user friendly, higher pay load design. Oh yea, I have a friend that has one of your crew cab dodges, he has had it for 4-5 years. It's nice but not worth nowhere near that money. After a couple years you can see the places they bondo'd, and parts are a pain, nothing fits.

Buying a new Ford with the 6. 0, sell the engine ASAP (the closer to 0 miles or hours the better), and drop a Cummins in it. Heck of a lot cheaper than trying to convert a Dodge into a legitimate crew cab. The dealership may even buy the engine from you, as they have to replace them so often.
