I went to check out a crew cab 84 RAM Prospector for $3000 today with high hopes that it would be the basis for a diesel conversion. It was not to be. The top edge of the cab was rusted through. The door panels were broken. The seats were missing, the doors intereferd with each other, it was a D350, but had 3/4 ton axles and no duallies, and it had a short bed. $3 grand? I wouldn't have given $500 for it! I'll keep looking

Keep Looking, I got mine in California for $2500 and a $1000 shipping. And that was for a solid rust free complete 2X4. At the time the dealer had 3 crew cabs, and the other two were dualies. I did try to get a hold of that dealer last year (a friend wanted to build a truck like mine) and he was out of business.

1985 DODGE 1 ton Crew Cab(imported from California with no rust) W/8' box converted to 4X4 in 1999. Converted to a non-intercooled 1991 Cummins Turbo diesel & rebuilt 5 speed Getrag in 2000(wife can't drive a stick :). Freshly rebuilt and Balanced Cummins, Rebuilt NP205, Rebuilt Injector pump and tweaked, Matched Injectors, 3" New Mandrel Bent Exhaust,no muffler, Borgeson Steering Shaft, K&N Air Filter, 4:10 gears, limited slip rear end, 16" Goodyear GSA Wranglers and LE Package and a Sony CD Stereo. Next add-on some “Banks” toys ! If you want to know why I did all of this, 2 kids, one on the way and I can't stand Ford and Chevy. Kyle Hoover ,Fruitport, MI.
