What's the latest scope on a full size crew cab for our PU's? I've convinved the wife to trade her Mustang for a new truck for me. She gets the current pickup and we'd become a 2 Cummins/Dodge PU family. Pure bliss.

I want a 6 speed, 4x4 with a crew cab as the quad cab back seat is a little restricted for teenagers and adults.

lizzy... the latest rumors I have heard and read are that the crew cab may come out in 2003. I have seen nothing official about it. The crew cab is out for 2002 in the half tons.

There have been sparse reports of sightings of test vehicles in texas, etc, of the crew cab diesel, but I certainly would not bet the farm on anything yet.

On the other hand, better take good care of that wife! She sounds like a keeper !!:D

NO true Crew CAB!

Dodge does not have a true crew cab as in what Ford or Chevy has.

Dodge's new 4 door cab is just a slightly larger (3") than our current extended cab (quad cab).

The sheet metal of the 2003 2500,3500 is the same as the 2002 1500.

However, since the overall size of the new truck is larger and when you add 3" to the back seat, the combination may give yo a much better rear seat.

To bad, they just don't offer both and extended cab and a crew cab. Cost cutting, you know!

No Crew Cab??

The new truck has 4 front swinging doors just like Ford and Chevy. It also has the additional 3" mentioned. The bed was shortened 3" also so the overall length is about the same. This sound a lot like a crew cab to me.

small doors!

So you think that by changing the clam shell doors to forward swingout doors and adding 3" to the cab makes and extended cab a crew cab then you are right, and Dodge has marketed there product well.

If you want 4 full size doors, (not offered by Dodge), a full size read cab (not offered by Dodge) as in Ford and Chevy, and full room of a true crew cab (not offered by Dodge) on a longer wheel base, then Dodge does not offer that and you will have to settle for the "want-a-be" crew cab of Dodge.

Dont get me wrong, the improvemnet will be great, it is just not a true crew cab. Shorter wheel base, shorter rear cab, shorter rear doors, still just a extended cab.

A rose by any other!

mine too...

lizzyhermit--mine wants one too. she wants a white sport if we get her an 02. still tryin' to decide on 4x4 or 4x2 tho'.

TOO COOL!!!

It is true. The new quad cab in the "DR" body is coming out for the 2003 model year in the 2500 and 3500 models. A friend has driven the new chassis with the new motor, disquised in current "BR" sheet metal, and confirms a solid front axle and a QUIET CUMMINS. He stated that We have a contract for the CUMMINS thru 2007. He also says that the new motor is quiet enough that you can order thru the drive thru window, WITH OUT shutting off the engine, but you can still tell it is a diesel. Everyone I know that works at the Jeep / Truck Engineering Center (JTE), here in Detroit, says there is significantly more room in the back seat, than the current ram. I had some photo's posted here under 2003 Ram photos, and they are also on Dave Fritz's page at : dodgeram.org, which show the rear seat.
