There is a '76 Crewcab coming up for auction in a couple weeks. Has anyone tried to put the cab on a regular frame? I know most people put the Cummins in the crew truck, but the other way? Is the frame too short rear of cab to the curve in the regular frame? I'm not against making cab mounts or whatever it needs, my chassis has all good brakes, steering parts, drivetrain, etc. and I hate to give it up. Having a box doesn't matter much, as I only need enough room for the 5'ver hitch. Can someone give me the measurement from the front of the front door to the back of the crew cab?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks-

To change the question a little, how about putting a 78 crew cab on a 94 or latter frame? Has anyone tried this or can come up with dimension of the newer frames verse the older ones?

Thanks SGibson, I wondered if anybody was gonna answer.

I saw a picture of a puller who had a 1st gen body on a 2nd gen frame,(don't know if it was 12 or 24v) and he had stacks between the cab and box. So the frame is a little longer, maybe wider too?

Yep Jeff Strothcamp (sp) has a 92 club cab long bed body on a 2nd gen 24 valve excab long bed frame/drivetrain. Anything is possible.
