well... I see lots of guys spend a lot of money on chrome... the way I see it, if you're going to be spending real money, do it right and go stainless. with a high grade stainless, you can polish it up and keep it looking brand new forever...
chrome has always had a "cheap" feel to it for me, but I think a lot of that might be because often times chrome tips will start to rust around the edge.
BUT, with our diesels and their sooty oily exhaust, you just don't have the rusting problems that you do with gassers.
if you live anywhere where they salt the roads, go stainless, otherwise, let your wallet guide you!
I like stainless because it's so much easier to maintain and in my eyes it looks just as nice. See my exhaust pics in my gallery for an example of the stainless tip.
My truck had oily soot on the back bumper and fender when it was new and quit doing that early on.
I had the MEGS rolled stainless 4" exhaust tip on my 98. 5 and it still looked good when I traded it, I chose to leave it on . I chose the 5" Big Chrome tip for the '03 and it still looks like new, no rusting and pitting and I like the looks of it on my dually. I bought them from Geno's
It probably made the sound a little deeper, but I am not the one to be asking about sound, pistols, rifles, shotguns, chainsaws and pneumatic hammers, etc have taken their toll. I seldom hear the turbo unless I am towing or pulling real hard . I like the 5" tip on the duallie, but I personally would stick with the 4" on a SRW. I might have gotten the stainless if it were available, but so far, I am impressed with the quality of the chrome one that I bought.
Looks great Dean! I went the other direction on my truck and put a 6" -- looks like a cannon back there. I get the old "Oh my God!!" comments all the time about it. I may have gone overboard.
