My cruise has never worked. The green light comes on but will not set. If I get on the freeway and press the "SET" button it will not take ahold. 2 times I have pressed it then to find out 15 mins later when I let up it was engaged. I never have been able to set it and let off the peddle to have it take over. I replaced the servo unit under the battery this morning and it did not fix it. I assume ther is a "module" somewhee too. Do these go out often? Does anyone have a factory manual that shows a tech troubleshooting flowchart of some sort?

Common cause of the problem you describe is the brake pedal or clutch switch set too close to the linkage, it shouldn't be touching. This assumes your speedo and tach are working.

Not really sure on unplugging it, could set off your abs warning light. Think it might be easier to just bend the bracket back if the switch plunger is contacting the linkage. This is a dual function switch, the first phase signals the cruise off, further depression of the plunger activates the brake lights.

Some problems with the cruise will set trouble codes which can help you out. Turn your key off/on three times without starting and be prepared to count the number of times the check engine lamp flashes. Each number is two digits, with the digits separated by a short pause, each set of two digits are separated by a longer pause. If you come up with some numbers post them here and I'll see what they mean.

I had been testing engaging it by putting my foot under the brake pedal and pulling it up in the event the pedal was "sagging" down to trip the switch. It did not make a dif. Anyhow, I just looked at the switch. It looked fine. It is the type that if I bend it out of the way it will think the peddal is pressed. Anyhow, I checked for codes and there was only 1 code set. It was a 55. Any idea what that is?

55 means end of check.

With what you've done so far the only things left are low vacuum, bad wiring connection or an electronic problem.

Not sure if your brake switch is the same as mine or not but here is what I found with mine. The switch is a racheting type if the switch is pushed in to far it won't workright . Mine had some how gotten depressed to far which wasn't letting the c/c work I bought a new switch it was about 18. 00 The switch looks like it is extended out about a 1/2 inch when it was pushed it to far it was only out abou a 1/4 or less. you could try and pull it towards the pedal but it might break no sure.
