Mycruise control gave up. It doesn't work at all now,but a few days ago I tried it and when I set it it seemed to not be holding the speed. I set it at 60 mph and let off the pedal and it just started slowing down kinda slowly like I was letting up on the accelerator. Any body have any answers as to where I should start looking. Thanks alot for any help.

My 98 did the same thing. I found out the battery heater under the driver side battery connector wiring harness plug broke off from the battery box. Letting the wire lead fall down onto the vaccuum line to the servo and melting it into. I spliced it back to gather with a some rubber vaccuum hose and tyrap the plug back to the battery box.

The servo is under the driver side battery and is prone to damage from battery acid and the vacum line will have problems also. Follow the vacum line inch by inch with your fingers from the servo up to where you can see it or pull it out and examine it, quite often thats where the problem lies.

Good Luck

Mine was acting kind of poor for a while and then it quit. I found there were some holes in the vacuum line under that battery box. The box is pretty easy to get out. There are four screws inside the box and two nuts under the front. All are easy to get to. I cut the bad places out of the line and used a piece of vacuum hose for the repair. The reason for the complete failure on mine was the brake light switch adjustment. The adjustment is pretty easy to do if you have the service manual.

cruise control

Mine quit suddenly, rather than acting poorly. Turns out to be a servo problem... $57 from DC... . but $130 to install!!!

Another place to look is under the fresh air cowl. There is supposed to be a vaccum storage container under it, drivers side( book doesn't say for gas jobs only so I imangine the diesels have one too).

But vacuum lines and servo (diaphram could of given out) would be a could place to look first.

If that doesn't pan out start looking at the electrical side of the cruise.

mINE DID THE SAME THING LAST WEEK. FOUND OUT THE VACUME LINE HAD A HOLE IN IT. WAS ALSO CAUSING THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON. REPLACED THE LINE - END OF PROBLEM. SORRY ABOUT ALL CAPITAL LETTERS BUT MY COMPUTER JUST WENT NUTS AND I CANT GET IT TO QUIT TYPING IN CAPITAL LETTERS. MAYBE I SHOULD CHECK THE VACUME LINE ON IT.

Thanks for all the help guy's. I checked the vaccuum lines under the battery box and found just what some of you said. Battery acid (or corrosion remnants) was droping on the line and rotted it thru. I replaced that section with rubber hose and now it works great . Thanks again.

It's great to say you have friends all over the country who know everything about your truck, isn't it!!!
