My cruise light is lit on my dash and won't turn off. Also it wont set cruise either. I have checked all vaccum lines in the engine compartment and none seem to have a leak. Any ideas on what might cause this and possibly how to fix this situation?
Are you certain that your model year 2001 Ram uses vacuum?
Be aware that the early 2001 Rams use a Speed Control Servo (under front of driver-side battery) and later 2001 Rams use the ECM (no Servo) in the cruise control circuit.
Check the cruise control switches on the steering wheel (there is both a left hand and a right hand switch. One or both of these could be bad. Or, they could have been swapped out from a different wheel.
The CAB (Controller Antilock Brake)module could have codes set and needs to be reset. Or, it could be the wrong one for your truck.
Check the Brake Control wiring and switch and plus all connections.
If any of the aforementioned items have been changed and are not the proper numbers, the components do not know each other.
I had a 1998 ½ that had a 1990 CAB unit installed, plus the steering wheel had been swapped for a 1999 steering wheel, so I had real compatibility issues. Your units must match all the equipment that came on your truck originally. If not, they are incompatible...
