Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) cruise control not working

the cruise control dosnt work in my truck. Ive checked the fuse and it is not popedd, what is the next step in finding out what is wrong with it.

check under driver side battery tray. Servo is under there and the vacuum hoses are sometimes leaking or damaged from leaking battery acid. If your 96 is like my 95 there are no lights on the switches when on. Also no dash indicator either. I had a problem with mine and it was a bolken hose where it pushes on to the servo.

My 97's cruise isn't working either. I checked the fuses, all good. It has a light in the switches and it comes on. The clutch safety switch was bypassed by a previous owner so I know its not that. I havent checked the servo/lines for leaks yet. I would suggest bypassing your neutral safety switch(manual and auto trucks both have one).

Vaccum supply line at servo breaks about 2 inches away on these trucks, both diesel and gas. Real common.

Thanks for the info. i will try looking for vaccum leaks my truck is a 95 my dads is a 96 so i dont have the lights or indicater on the dash.

Cruise Control

A slight overfill on our driver’s side battery of our 1996 Dodge 1 ton caused the acid to eat through the plastic part of the servo on our cruise control. That cost us a hefty $150. 00. After it was replaced, we made a small aluminium shield to protect that area so if battery acid should accidentally leak, it would fall on the shield and roll off. The acid could also eat the vacuum line. Good Luck, Diana
