Just wondering if something may be going bad with the cruise control. Keep in mind that I don't drive this vehicle very often, at least not until recently. I recall in the past that when accelerating that it wasn't real smooth, but lately it seems worse. It will gain a short burst of speed, hit a flat spot, gain a bit more, flat again, then more speed. Frankly it seems to have been less responsive since transmission rebuild and power upgrades where done a couple years ago. Even though I don't drive it often, I rarely needed cruise until recently. Had not paid much attention to it until now. Any thoughts or suggestions?

ck for battery acid damage to vac lines below the ds battery in the cruise servo area. Also at the vac. pump nipple for line collasping (oil contamination) and also the firewall vac, connectors above the fuel filter at the firewall.

Throttle cable, cruise cable and linkage adjustment also come to mind.

Good luck

Andy

I had to adjust my cable because it worked fine up to 70 mph (less going up a grade) after that it would not hold at speed the cable was an 1/8" to long after I adjusted it will hold at 80mph plus. :)

I do have a factory manual, just not in front of me. Does the factory manual have a decent description on these adjustments? Or is there another resourse that describes the procedure?

Dave:

Yes, look in the manual index for "throttle linkage adjustment-Diesel engine"

You could also look at the TSB's/Recall instructions for this issue (throttle linkage).

Good luck

Andy
