Cruise control quit working.

For some reason my cruise control won't engage now. The cruise light will activate on the dash but I can't get it to engage. It briefly worked for about a mile this afternoon then kicked off. I had been out to the airport to pick up a lost bag and when heading back into town, nothing worked on the cruise. The truck is a 06 3500 with 6K miles and manual trans.

Any ideas??

Do your have brake lights? The reason i ask is I've seen it a few times if a brake bulb is out the cruise will not engage. Not sure if this holds true for your 06 or not.

Hmm, haven't checked that but will. It seems to be working now around town about 40mph. Wonder if the gremlins at the airport jumped on it and put the voodoo to it!!

What speeds are you trying it at? It wont engage at under 35 I believe.

Yeah, I was running some errands around town and got on some of the thru roads and was able to run up to 45 and set it and it held. I hope it continues cause I will be making an 800mile trip dragging a trailer with the 97 loaded. I don't want to have to pedal the accelarator pedal the whole way since I just did that with a Uhaul truck last week.

Your APPS or Throttle Position Sensor may be worn out.
