:{It seems that the cruise control on My 98. 5 has quit working the light in the dash comes on when I turn on the cruise and it worked OK a few days ago. I have looked over the vacuum lines didn't find any leaks. the cable to the apps is still hooked up and no codes have showed up yet. I hate to take it to a dealer, but I miss cruise control. Any Ideas that would help me, and save a couple of bucks now that I'm not working for a while (had some scrap iron added to the back)

have you done any wiring lately? i had a similar issue when i removed my remote start. i clipped a wire on the main harness and it did the exact same thing you are talking about. the wire was right behind the ABS system under the hood. i will look and see if i can figure out what color it is. something might have worn it in two if you have not done any work.

My 99 did the same thing gradually stopped working all together.

It ended up being the vacuum actuator/cruise control module unit under the drivers battery back in 03 it cost about $80 at the dealer and took me about 3 - 4 hours to R & R.

Hardest part about the R & R was getting the bottom battery tray bolts out and the bolts that hold the unit in place. Use lots of PB Blaster - bolts are under plastic fender liner - go in front of drivers wheel well between bumper - it might take a bit to see them but they are up in there somewhere.

Cruise Control Quit

Had a similar situation - Sounds simple, but the vacuum line had came out of the clip that holds it to firewall, it fell onto the exh manifold: Melted that baby!!

I would get the cruise light on, but no cruise control. Bought the replacement vacuum line from dlr, and made my own clip to hold it in place.

Also, the line that runs to the vacuum actuator developed a crack - I spliced a piece of hard plastic over the line and its worked well since.

The lights burned out now though - Gotta replace that when I get to it?

The vacuum supply to the actuator is notorious for breaking a few inches from the actuator. Kinda hard to get to being under the battery. Repair it with rubber washer type hose.
