This fix works for my 03 HO 6Spd and should probably work for all combinations. The "Rattle" comes from the throttle cable ball & socket attachment at the pump. As long as there is tension on the cable ie: your foot on the pedal, there is no vibration of the socket on the ball. As soon as the cruise is utilized there is no longer any tension and the socket vibrates like crazy against the stud mount.
The "Fix" is simply removing the cover at the pump and twisting a medium size rubber band around the ball & socket a couple of times. The rubber band provides constant tension to the ball and socket without interfering with the movement or rotation of the pump lever in normal use (cruise off) and keeps the connection from rattling when the cruise in on.
This is decidedly "Low Tech", but it works for me so far.
Hope this helps, Geoff Allen
