I have done a search on cc problems and can't find an answer. The last time it quit (a year ago) it was the vacuum line, just as many of you have experienced. Not this time. There aren't any pcm codes so I don't think it is an electical component. The servo looks OK from the outside so I tried the diagnostic procedure in the book. It has you checking voltage with the servo plug disconnected, engine running and cc on. The cc won't stay on with the connector off. Now what?????:confused:

With over 122,000 miles should I just conclude the servo is bad?

I am not sure on a 97 but my 2001 cruze is somehow connected to the buzzer module for the door dinger, I disconnected my dinger and the cruze quit :confused: and when I hooked the dinger back up the cruze worked again :confused: dont make sence to me but oh well, also the next step I would look at would be the clock spring in the wheel column ... ... ... . Kevin
 
I've had the door buzzer disconnected almost since day 1 so that isn't it. Man I hope it isn't the clock spring, I just replaced one in my wife's F*** van... ... what a PITA job that is. I do have the little green light , the horn works (I just found out one button sticks from under use, I have an airhorn ) and the airbag light isn't on so I don't think that the clockspring is the problem either. But thanks for the suggestions:cool:
 
My bet is it's the servo, things just don't last well under the battery. Another member reported only paying around $34 for a servo from the dealer. Acid had eaten the guts out of his.
 
That's what I'm thinking too, just hate to fix things by throwing parts until I hit the target. :eek:
 
FIXED!!!!

When I originally posted here I was looking for another way to check the servo. The manual has you hooking a jumper hot wire from the plug to the servo, engine running, cc on, and checking for voltage at the other three pins. Apparantly written by someone who has never been under the hood of a Dodge. It dawned on me the next morning that if pin#3 is hot and the other three pins should have voltage that a simple continuity check would work... . dah:eek: ,and if you are looking for a voltage drop that any 12 volt power source to pin#3 would work... again, dah:rolleyes:

I exchanged PMs with gchas, and after further inspection found not one but two holes in the case. The local stealer doesn't stock the servo, so with the whole long weekend to wait thru I decided to try a little 2-part epoxy. I cleaned up the case, plugged the holes, waited for the epoxy to cure and went for a test drive. Works GREAT!!!Oo. Oo. Oo.

So for about 25 cents I saved about $40. :D :D

Now I'm wondering if I should post the fix under another heading... . sorta like the vacuum hose fix.
