I just repaired the vacum line to the cruise control. It was worn/ eaten away about 2 inches from the servo. I am puzzled about what looks like damage from battery acid. I am surprised that acid would attack plastic. Is that what happens or is it abraded from vibration and rubbing something sharp and acid has just gotten the tubing dirty?

It's battery acid. Seems to be a fairly common thing. Mine has the same problem too. I need to get a new servo and line. I can stick my thumb in the hole on the servo. The line is capped off right now to keep dirt out and vac. in.

I'm thinking about getting them to. Not really a problem for me on the highway, but driving in the field shakes them enough to leak. :(
