My cruise control is not working. I got the light to come on once at a stop light but it went out before I had a chance to use it and I have not been able to get the light to come back on. Any suggestions on the order of testing things and also explain how to test the different items. I have never had cruise control so I have never work on cruise.

My cruise control light comes on but the cruise control does not work. I also would be interested in any help in this matter. It's a 98 12 valve 3/4 4X4 LB.

Mine did this and it turned out to be the little plastic vac hose on the servo under the battery had a crack in it, pain in the butt to get off to fix. I just pulled the broken peice out of the rubber elbow and stuck the hose back in. Cost= a couple scrapes on the arm.

OK, my cruise doesn't work and neither does my horn. The light comes on for the cruise but nothing ever happens. What does it take to pull the steering wheel and replace the clockspring?

My cruise light does not come on any more, but the cruise still works. I have to press the set button to see if cruise is on or not.

I have a different cruise control problem... on my 98. 5 w/ automatic when I push the set button it speeds up at least 5 MPH for what seems like a good minute then it will eventually drop back down. I have stopped using it because of how it does. I had read some time ago about cycling the cruise on/off button several times and it supposedly calibrated something but that has never worked if it was supposed to. Anybody else had this problem and/or a fix?

Thanks

BWilson,

Should be pretty straight forward, just make sure you take the negative cable off batteries for at least two minutes or the air bag mite deploy when you least expect it.

Cruise servo

TKeeler and other that find your cruise speeding up or very touch, replacing the cruise control servo (sits under the drivers side battery) will most likely fix this problem. The part is not that expesive ($40 - 50). Pretty easly to install.
