Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Cruise Control

This mite not be the correct place for this, but has anybody had problems with Cruise control not holding above 70mph mine will hold at 65 just fine but above 70 it seems to not have enough strength to hold at speed, if I go down hill it will bring it back up to speed. This has only been happening for the last 100k or so.

It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum hose to the cruise control motor under the driver's side battery. Sometimes battery acid can make holes in hose.

I guess you have plenty of power when not using cruise. Several years ago, my truck was doing the same thing as yours, I could not hold speed, even on a small hill. My truck was down on power all the time though. I had a small hole melted in the AFC sensing line. This was not telling the fuel pump I had any boost. No fuel... No power. I replaced the line, and my truck climbs hills with the cruise just fine.

Reading through some old post I came across an ajustmant for a TPS that said start with plate that linkage is all hooked to I don't recall who said it but said the distance between the ball stud of the throttle cable and the plate that they fasten to should be 5" mine measures 4. 75" I didn't see exactly how to adjust but noticed slop in my cruise control cable so I pulled it tight about 1/8" slop and fastened a lock ti on the end taking up the slop, then tested the cruise worked perfect will hold 80mph no problem. I will have to look further into adjusting this plate, has anybody done this?
