Cruise Control

Has anybody Put Cruise Control on a 1990 ctd automatic 4x4. . ? Keep getting different answers such as they hook to alternator or they hook to crankshaft who the heck is correct. . ? and where does one find cruise control unit?? Thanking everybody in advance for any help... Gerry

I believe Kyle (85crewcab) put one on his truck. Wrote a post about it back in April with part numbers. He has a 5-speed though.

I put a factory one in my crew cab coversion. Since all the wiring is a 91 1/2 I just ordered a OEM one. You need a clockspring in the steering wheel, a set of switches on the wheel, a cruise unit and maybe a new brake switch. I used all factory parts. I still have a bug in mine and can't get it to work. I have not had time to check it out.
