Cruise installation

A friend of mine has an early 91 CTD W250 LE (NV45000 conversion). This truck has most of the factory options except cruise control, which he wants to add. Because I have very little tech info for pre 94 Rams, I was hoping someone here can give us some advice.



What he wants to do is install cruise from another truck on his 91. His steering wheel has a plastic trim cover over the OEM cruise control switch location in the bottom of the steering wheel center. I believe that some later years use switches along the side of the steering wheel center, but do not know which years those are. Can someone who has done this advise us which model years have compatible parts, if his ECM already has the cruise code installed (later models do), and how much wiring harness work is needed?

IF this is non itercooled, the trucks that have the cruise are a completly different set up.

if the truck is the intercooled set up with computer he may get away with getting everything from where ever he can.

I still have a complete factory accesory cruise set up I got for my crewcab truck about 5 years ago to give you some ideas?
