I don't use cruise too often, but last night on my way home, my recently acquired 1993 1-ton's curise control doesn't work. Any ideas on where to start looking?

Thanks!

Check the cable coming from the servo and wrapping around to the throttle lever assembly. Make sure the lip holding the cable in place on the throttle assembly is still there. Also, check vacuum to the servo for a kinked or pinched hose. Check to see the servo is getting power. Is your speedo working as it should? This ought to give you someplace to start.

Mine died too. Rather than try to diagnose I took it to the dealer. They found a blown fuse. Replaced and it's worked since.

There is also a vacumn switch behind the left side hood hinge. If the switch is bad or the hose leading to it has a break it will not let the cruise work. It would also turn on the ABS/Brake warning lights. If a P/O has unhooked the ABS controller those warning lights would not work.

That switch is a low vacumn warning.

If it turns out to be the clockwork in the column I have repaired mine and it works fine! If you need more info on how to check it and ahow to try and repair it feel free to drop me a line and I'll explain in more detail.

Check the wires going to the cruise switches. After about 10,000 cycles of the tilt steering, the little wires broke near the switches. Pull the plastic off the column, and they run under the column. I rerouted the wires and put them on toggle switches on the dash, kinda like a big truck.

Speedo works fine. I'll check those things tomorrow, thanks guys! Man the help a guy can get on here is awesome. Oo.

I popped the plastic switch on the right hand of my wheel- underneath that cover is 3 switches (small and don't loose the white plunger out of the top switch) These switches are your set/ resume and increase-decrease. I tried them on next run out and have full control of cruise minus the cover. Apparently wear of the cover is causing the problem on mine.
