Hi guys, I've got a problem of surging in the cruise control. I,ve done an archive search and done a diagnostic test of the fault codes. It flashed 5 times twice, I assume that is a 55 fault, but I can't find what that means. It doesn't go with any of the codes in the service manuel. It could mean all checks out OK. Any Ideas. I'm just starting to check this out so any advice would be good to hear.
One other question,When your air cleaner gets dirty will that cause your boost to diminish a few puonds? Boost droped from 14 max to 12 over a few months, and seems to get there slower. The cleaner is going to be replaced tomorrow, it's been 20K miles. It's paper. Going to go with the fleat guard this time. It looks much better than the Fram. and is cheaper by 5 bucks.
Thanks In Advance, You guys are great. Hope to see some 1st Gens at the Temple Tx gig in a couple months.

Hi Preleeguy
When I had the same problem it turned out to be the nut on the tailshaft of my transmission. When you disconnect the driveshaft you can see it. The speedometer drive gear is kept tight by this nut - it is not splined or keyed so this nut needs to be very tight. Good Luck

Thanks Bob, Problem solved. It was the spedo cable was loose on the gear drive. That's about as cheap a fix aas it could be. More money left to bomb with. It did help to find out that 55 was a no foult condition and that led me to look as mechanical issues. Thanks again.
