Yup, cruise on 60 mph and bam, just like you turn the key off, engine quits completely no sputter just off. So I coast into a wide spot and try to start and no fire at all, cranks good but nothing. Lift pump is working, fuel filter canister full. Will a fuel pump go out like that or does it usually sputter a little? Brother towed me back to town and to the dealer, hope they can look at it today. 116,000 miles, bone stock, new lift pump at 85,000 good fuel pressure.

Any ideas?

It sounds like the rotor might have seized. Is this the original VP44. For some reason 2001 (original pumps) seamed to be a bad year for HO Pumps (if memory serves me correctly). If it is the pump, there are several choices of re-manufactured pumps that will serve you much better than the original factory pump.

Yup, VP DOA. $2500. and can't fix till after the weekend. 100,000 miles, babied, never modified, don't hardly tow anything, 2 stroke oil added, power service additive always, clean fuel and filter changes regularly, fuel guage to monitor lift pump, and it still goes out!!!!
