Has anyone noticed that after getting the J35 reflash they now have a slow and sloppy shift between 3rd and 4th?

If I'm accelerating at about 2200rpm as the shift happens the truck will feel like it stumbles, the revs will go to about 2400 and then they will come down to where they are supposed to be for 4th gear.

2-3 and 4-5 feel like they have been softened up too, nothing like the firm and positive way that the truck used to shift, but nowhere near as bad as 3-4.

This all started after the J35 recall and naturally when I called Dodge back about it they "hadn't heard anything about it" but would take a look if I'd bring the truck back to them. Again... Lovely...

Thanks,

Mike

I'm not aware it had anything to do with the transmission. It is an emissions recall, and is stated as an emissions recall. You can ask the dealer to reflash it just in case some of the code got corrupted on the trans side. When you perform any flash with a combined engine/trans controller it flashes each side of the module separately, even if nothing changed on one side.

I'm not sure I understand this.

Are you saying that the transmission control software got reloaded even though the J35 was not supposed to have anything to do with the transmission?

If so, I can definitely see how a corrupted upload could cause transmission goofiness.

I'll have to get back with them and see about getting the transmission software reloaded.

Thanks,

Mike

It is a one step process,un like some of the earlier controllers where there was break between each half. The good thing is that you can reflash with the same #

Flashed mine today, transmission feels like my 95 auto... I even lost my tow/haul function... . no longer changes gears with the + - toggle button. . It sure worked the day before. 3k miles... ..... just lovely... ... ...
