I driving on the freeway with the cruise control on. I had to stop fast and when I shifted down the cruise control didn't disengage. I turned it off via the switch.

Now on previous vehicles I drove with manual trans and cruise control, pushing on the brakes or clutch pedal disengaged the cruise control. Is this a DC problem or something I have to learn to live with?

Thanks.

On my -01, the brakes or clutch will disengage the cruise. With the clutch, it is not instant-off - the engine will rev up for a second or two. Suggest you try again under controlled circumstances and see if you really have a problem or not.

Basically what we have here in the cruse control feature is whats called an auto cascade setup, how it works is you set it at say 70 mph and the computer is looking at maintaining 70 mph no matter what , it doesnt care about rpm , so when you depressed the clutch you lost a pinch of speed and it sees that and gives more rpm trying to maintain 70 mph but cant do it. There is on most vehicles a lag time before the cruze will shut down, the best thing to do is to take it off of cruze before shifting... ... ... ... I know I have forgotten a few times too... ... ..... Kevin
