I am having a problem with my new truck. I think I know the answer, but see if you guys can give me any others. I picked it up a week ago, and took it on its maiden voyage to Bismark, ND and back 1000 miles round trip. Everything was great until I tryed to set the Cruise at about 75 or 80. It sits and hunts for a speed, and will never settle down. This happens at any speed over about 65. Anything less it works fine. Any thoughts??

Also later in the trip i noticed as I was watching my speedo (so the cops wouldnt catch me!! :D ) anything above 65 the speedo needle does not stay steady. This was in the flat lands of ND and with no changes in go peadle preassure. The truck does not appear to be surging.

Last, in the nite, My high beam indicator light flashes real faintly when the low beams are on.

Im thinking the speed issue is a speed sensor or teh connection. Anyone know where this connection is? I havent got my service manuals yet. The high beam light i think is a bad gauge cluster, but thats just a guess. Anythoughts and possible fixes appreciated to save a dealer visit.

No problems here with the cruise control at any speed. But, I too noticed the flash from the high beam indicator at random times. thought I was seeing things for a while. Hope we get an answer on this one.

The speed sensor is on the drivers side of the trans. It is hard wired to the PCM. The PCM then uses it to control the cruise. The PCM also buses the speed signal to the anti-lock controller (CAB) and the cluster (MIC) for the anti-lock and the spedo operation. First thing to check is the PCM connectors. Unplug all four and check carefully for water and or rusty pins.

There is no connector between the trans and PCM.
