It is growing time for a newer ride for wifey, and this is what I'm thinking-

has anybody done this? I propose finding a '03 or early '04 2500 auto

truck, 2WD, and trying to soften up the ride by maybe removing some

leafs and going to C or D rated tires with carefully adjusted air pressure

for best ride. Might have to check load rating on C's - the motor itself

may be too much weight for them. Before anybody ask "why", let me

say this - I'm keeping my truck, that is a given! The only thing hers

would ever haul is maybe groceries or a piece of furniture - well, she

might haul 500 lbs. of cow food occasionly if she had her own truck,

but it would not be a "have to" thing. She leans more towards some

"cute" little car or SUV, says my truck is too noisy (common rail fixes this)

don't like 6 spd (it don't like her either!) ;) auto fixes that, rides too rough

is the last hurdle. We keep vehicles on average 10+ years, and I do all

the maintenance myself which should explain why I want to put her in a CTD.

Whenever I catch her eyeing some little econobox, I just tell her "You

better hope it runs forever and changes its own oil, 'cause I ain't touching

it!" Jeff

:-laf Ball and Chain hadn't heard that one in awhile, I like to refer to mine as the "Warden". Any how after reading your post I was hoping you showed in your signature you drove a 4x4, but noticed a 4x2. By sticking her in the 4x4 for a month or two to drive then in the 4x2 you would not have to do all the mods to the 2wd your talking about. She would think it rode like a Catty. :D

Good Luck on her choosing though for your sake.

Please don't put C tires on a Cummins, or D. Just get E's and don't put 80 PSI in them.

My girlfriend has a TDI Jetta. It's still getting broken in so we haven't seen 50 MPG yet.

crd liberty? no thanks just another econobox with a questionable (to me) motor

and the brakes/trans probably wouldn't hold up to the grocery store Gran Prix any

better than her oldsmobile! P. S. I don't run 80 psi even in my truck, 65

front, 45-50 rear I think D's would be plenty for the intended use.

My wife drives our '05 as her "car" during the week as I have a company car, the RAM becomes my truck on the weekends and of course when we tow the 5vr. She absolutely loves it. She liked driving the 12V also, exspecially when she blew out a big smoke cloud to tailgaters. She does like the '05 better though... ... made me order the Laramie, as she wanted both driver and passenger power seats, dual climate control and the best part is the heated leather. It was actually her idea to buy an '05, really glad I got talked into it.
