Omaha, farewell for Doug

Hey folks,

So now that I've made the leap & bought my first diesel, can anyone suggest a good Cummins mechanic in the Boulder area? I know it's very faux pas to drive a diesel truck in the Peoples Republic of Boulder. :D

Also, if I've got non-engine related issues, am I stuck with the dealer?

thanks,

_luke

Oil and filter changes are not that hard, neither is the LP replacement.

yeah, that's the plan, but until then I'd like to have an honest shop to help me out. Plus, some of the bigger stuff I can't do myself.

I plan on installing the FASS system myself.

I'm sure that we have a TDR member in Boulder that can show you the ropes. A of a lot cheaper than $75hr, for a lot tech to try to do the work.

For myself, the only dealership/mechanics that I have found that I can recommend is Jonson Auto Plaza (124th Ave? and Hwy 85), which is hell and gone far from boulder.

Central Motive Power and ATS are good folks to deal with. And Cummins Rocky Mountain in Henderson (Hwy85 & 96th) is top notch. The best place to get answers to any truck or engine issues or questions you have is this site. Great folks here. Enjoy the truck.

Luke,

Did you know you are very close to a biodiesel source? Bartkus Oil Company, 3501 Pearl Street, in Boulder. If anyone in your area gives you a hard time about your diesel rig, you can simply mention the biodiesel with a great big smile. If you are new to biodiesel, you may be interested to know the U. S. Navy is now making their own biodiesel, and Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas just recieved their first 7,000 gallon shipment this month. Biodiesel is clean burning and "politically correct" fuel that is 100% USA made (now THAT is a patriot act I can get behind). You might also be interested in knowing that Rudolph Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine, wanted all his engines to burn this stuff, not the petrol kind.

Good luck with the new rig!

I work in Boulder (right by the airport) and Boulder is definitely not pickup friendly. I have to take up four parking spaces when I park in the lots. As far as a mechanic for the Cummins, I've never had to have any work done on it. I have been to Valley Dodge a few times for a few things and they are a good group. I've always taken it in as I drive it (Comp box, etc. ) and I've never had an issue (even for warranty work).
