I recently read an article in my Heavy Duty Trucking magazine, November-2004.

It was an article on the blue oval testing grounds race. They touted the blue oval winning both the Diesel & gas drags over both in competition. How did they do this advertising ploy:confused: ? Is this a way to stop the HP & TQ wars? :-{} We all know this is wrong :-laf !!!!

As far as the Ford winning, it doesn't surprise me. Same HP, little less torque, and 5 gears in the trans. I have an '04 F450 6. 0 12' flat bed (work truck), and it plain rips. Outruns my '03 2500QC HO 6 speed (personal) any day.

The D-max also has a 5 speed, but it (I've heard) lowers the torque output in 1st and 5th gear. It might make it a bit slower off the line.

None of this means that the Ford is better than the Dodge, it can just win stock drags. Big deal.

We have two 6. 0's here at the shop, and we've been having injector issues since day 1 with both, plus some other problems.

I'd take a slightly slower truck anyday, as long as it's reliable.

Also keep in mind that the Cummins fuel economy is much better than either of the other two.

You have to figure too... a V-8 engine (diesel or otherwise) will rev faster (therefor make it's HP at a faster rate) that the I-6 (diesel or otherwise).

Just like the I-6 jeeps... they make lots of grunt ... and in the cherokees being as light as they were... they were fast. BUT they were slow revvers and didn;t have near the redline of the V-8 engines.

I drove my bro-in-laws 7. 3 PS ford and it was nice... BUT I like the power band of the cummins better. It seemed you had to get the PS revving before it felt powerful.
