Has anyone installed the gauges in the cubby hole? I'm getting ready to wire my Dipricol Optix gauges up and was thinking that since the climate control was already right there I could tap into wires there. Anyone done this? If so, and wiring schematie of which ones to tap in to?

I just finished installing Isspro's in the cubbyhole and I'm very pleased.

Do a search and you will get all the info you need on the electrical part.

Just pick up switched 12 volts DC at the cigarette lighter for powering the gauges, and the dimmer voltage from the dimmer switch for the gauge backlights.

I have searched but haven't found anyone that's tapped into the climate control for the dimmer. I was trying to keep most of my wire connections as close as possible.

Not sure I would tap into the climate control. The computer module that monitors all the circuits/voltage levels seems to be very sensitive. The wire is easy to get to at behind the Light/Dimmer switch and easy to run wire to.

Wiring

I didnt mount my guages in the cubby hole, but I used the dimmer wire from the factory radio since it wasn't used any more with my aftermarket stereo. I believe it's the orange and black wire. No problems with it. I can't say for sure but I don't think it should have any negative effect to tap it for the gauge lighting. I used the cigarette lighter hot lead for my air horn valve switch. No problems with that either.

Icaad, I didn't see what year your 3rd Gen was. I mounted my DiPrico's in the cubby and love it. I tapped into the back of the dimmer switch as pwer instructions I received from Geno's. BTW, When I received my DiPrico's I was a little disappointed with the installation instructions. I telephoned Geno's and spoke to someone (Sorry, don't remember who) and relayed my concern. Geno's sent me a detailed installation guide that made the job a breeze. Especially with hooking lighting to the dimmer wire. It was exactly where they said it would be. Huge thanks to Geno's!!!!! The only thing I'm not jazzed with is the lighting of the DiPrico's in twilight conditions. Very difficult to read but daylight and hours of darkness the gauges are great.

I did! :)

60k miles, no issues. Tapped into the climate control lighting circuit. If you read the wiring diagrams it's easy to select the proper circuit.

If you have a simple test light, the job will be a piece of cake.

I, too, tapped into the HVAC controls for the dimmer wiring. The 12V+ switched came from nearby, too... ... ... the cigarette lighter.

I no longer have my gauges as I currently run the Juice w/Attitude. I still have the DiPricol Fuel Pressure Gauge in the SRT/10 A-pillar.
