With all the variations and used for our motor, was it ever used in a configuration that had a air compressor motor attached to it? I want to power air accessories with a compressor, but if there was ever one offered by Cummins that was a direct bolt on to the motor, I would prefer that over a aftermarket. Thanks.

Then where does the power steering and vacuum pumps go? Is going with one of these set ups better than the aftermarket compressors? Thanks

Industrial machines have air compressors or hydraulic pumps, big trucks have air or a power steering or/and a vacuum pump. If it has air, it usually has air brakes, and sometimes the P. S. runs by belt.

I have been checking into this and aftermarket may be the only way to go. :{

If you are serious about a quality aftermarket comp. with some serious volume, do a search of a site called (offroad recovery) They have some quality units with commercial duty capabilities. John.

They make a direct bolt on compressor (Holset), however on the Dodge, the motormount is in the way. The output side of the compressor, is the same as the input, so any thing that will bolt to the block, will bolt to the compressor.

It would be cool to hook it up to an air tank and get an air operated starter. Toss the power steering pump and brake system in favor of an electric operated ones. Save a few H. P. on the parasitic losses.

My friend has a 51 chevy with a 5. 9. He put an air compressor and hydraulic pump on the engine. He only had to grind a little metal from the motor mount. If you didn't know any better you wouldn't even notice, it looks good. One downide is that it blocks the timing pin and side access plate for the gov springs. He bought the setup used from a place in Indianapolis IN. I will try to get part numbers, phone number and post pics.
